when the world comes to a stop

and hearts begin to drop

there’s a playlist for the days

when clouds dominate the skies

and you’re surrounded by sighs

there’s a playlist for the days

when the sun scorches the sidewalk

as you look down at words written in chalk

there’s a playlist for the days

you spend hunched over a desk

looking strangely statuesque

there’s a playlist for the days

when you lie awake in bed

and all your words go unsaid

there’s a playlist for the days

when silence fills the car

as you drive, and drive far

there’s a playlist for the day

when chatter echoes through the room

as the world begins to resume
