Fountain Pen

By: Ella Yu

Glistening, twinkling, and sprinkled all over,

Pixie dust, she thought, will it make me luckier?

“I’ve never felt so helpless”

So irresolute, emotional, the melody carelessly flows

Buoyant chords and playful rhythm floating in the air,

Spontaneity, chaos, dust wrapped all over her hands.

“I’m not throwing away my shot”

Rap in place of the female voice, she picked up the pen

She chose metallic ink; endless, sparkling imagination

“I will never be satisfied,” she wrote

Dim, helpless strokes. No words were shiny.

“Just you wait.” he mumbled, counting stars on her hands.
