Who is your favorite musical artist, and why?

My favorite musical artists change very often, but earlier this year, my favorite artist was Tate McRae. I remember watching her on “So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation” a few years ago, and this year, I discovered her music. I like how real and relatable her lyrics are! Some of my favorite songs from her are “you broke me first” and “tear myself apart.”

I discovered ATEEZ this past summer, and they’re definitely my new favorite musical artists! I enjoy every single one of their songs, which is rare for me. I like how they use their platforms to spread positivity and how encouraging or relatable their lyrics can be, which is exemplified in their songs “Sunrise,” “Thank U,” and “One Day at a Time.”

Where did your passion for music stem from? Is there anyone who inspired you in particular?

I think my passion for music slowly grew over time! I began with the piano, moved on to the viola, then focused on singing. Singing definitely developed my love for music the most, and I’ve been singing for the longest time out of the three instruments I’ve played. The people who influenced my passion for music the most are my middle school orchestra teacher and my high school choir teacher. Both of them are very kind and are good people in addition to being good teachers. They taught me most of what I know about music!

What have you discovered about yourself or others through working at TCC?

Being a part of TCC reminded me of how much I love reading! Sometime between middle school and high school, I stopped reading as much as I used to because I was so busy. But editing all the pieces our content creator and social media teams create reminded me of my love for reading, especially reading about music!

TCC also helped develop my love for editing! I’ve wanted to work on editing ever since I joined my school’s journalism program! Unfortunately, I had to unenroll from the program due to class schedule conflicts, but TCC allowed me to learn about and practice editing.

What is the most rewarding part of being a part of TCC?

I think one of the most rewarding parts of being involved with TCC is seeing the bonds we’ve made. I’ve made so many friends that I never would’ve met otherwise! We all share a love for music, but we’ve also bonded over a range of other shared interests.

What extracurriculars (clubs, organizations, sports, etc.) are you involved in outside of TCC?

At school, I’m part of the technical theatre club, the eco-fashion club, and the choir program, and I’m the co-president of our choir council. I also often take classes at my local community colleges on subjects like psychology or marketing. Outside of school, I do musical theatre, sing in multiple groups, edit for another publication, and participate in my local theater’s youth advisory board.

What are your dreams or aspirations in life?

I would really like to travel the world and learn about different cultures and languages. I would also love to teach music someday! I’m hoping to major in psychology with a minor or an additional major in music in college or university.
