A Single Look Back

By: Deeba Mehr

Can you remember

The crackle after the blast

The moment where everything stops?

It’s not real.

That crackle, that sparkle is the sound that you have been allowed to hear

So if you hear it, run.

When you’re running, take a glance back

A final look, the last chance

To take in the song of your terrain

Then keep going.

If you make it, when you make it,

Use the crackle that sparked your odyssey and know that you are worthy.

But your fight isn’t over yet.

The pedal is still going.

And so will you.
